J is for Joy
True joy in life comes from obeying God's commandments. Some folks seek joy in living wild and free but they will never find it there. They may have temporary  pleasures but those will fade. Real joy only comes from living by the 10 commandments and doing good for others. The scriptures tell us "Man is that he might have joy.", but they also tell us that "Wickedness never was happiness".

... My Js bring me Joy

I have very special Js in my life. Each one of them are doing good things and bring me great JOY.
You have seen them all in previous posts but to remind you who my special Js are I will show you again.
My Husband John

The first special J in my life is my sweetheart John. We married in 1965. I love cruising through life with him.
2011

He has been by my side through sickness and in health. After I was severely injured in a car accident in 2011 I was down in bed for months. He held my hand and nursed me back to health.

2014
And as you already know if you have read my blog, I have been sick since January this year. I was in the hospital for weeks. Now I am at home in bed most of the time. John is having to play nursemaid again.
Fish Tacos from Taco Bell
When I got well enough to eat, he would sneak my favorite foods into the hospital.
Now that I am home he is cooking up masterpiece meals for me. He takes me back and forth to doctors several times a week. He watches over me like a mother hen making sure I don't do too much.
My John blesses my life and brings me Joy.
I am sick of being sick. I look forward to being well again and able to take care of my home and my husband... but.... until then I am learning patience and I am thankful for my John

 My grandson Js

All of Lynell’s boy’s names start with J. They are Johnny, Jalen, Justin and Jordan.

The youngest J is 17 year old Johnny (named after his grampy) I introduced you to him on my G post.
He is our gymnast . Here is more information about Johnny.
When I was bedridden and not able to attend one of his CA meets, he came 50 miles to  put on a private show for me.
He broke a bone in his back last year.

Sore hands, bumps and bruises are a part of the sport.

Johnny is tough. Gymnastics is hard on your body. He competed with a broken bone in his back last year. He didn't tell anyone until after he got home from competing in Russia because he didn't want to miss the trip and let his sponsors down. We were not happy about that but it shows how dedicated he is.

He made the US National gymnastic team in 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 He is 7th in the nation for level 10. We are so proud of this hard working boy. His dream is to be in the Olympics… and if he keeps going like he has in the past he just might make it.... but even if he doesn't, he still brings us joy.

His 19 year old brother is Jalen. He is serving as a  missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He will be in Chile for 2 years.
Called to serve in Chile
Getting our boy a new suit to wear.

Elder Jalen

We were in Utah last year when his mission papers came in the mail. We rushed right out to get him a new suit to wear. He left on April 24, 2013. We are so proud of him and happy that he has this opportunity to serve the Lord and the people of Chile. He has learned what real service is. His letters express the joy that service brings to him.

Justin is Jalen’s older brother. He is 22 and got back last year from serving his 2 year mission in Guatemala. He too, learned the joy that comes from serving others.  Now he is in the army reserves and wants to serve his country. He has trained to be a medic. He is a dear grandson that brings us a lots of joy.

Jordan is our oldest grandson. He is a sweet member of our family.
Jordan with his dad and EJ
His younger cousins love playing with him. He never leave the house without saying goodbye and telling us he loves us. He is going through his "Mountain man" phase with his beard and long hair but he is full of love.

I have to slip in one more almost J..... our grandson, E
EJ is a leader of his young men's group at church

He comes over to help us from time to time.
He is an outstanding trumpet player. He practices hours a day.
EJ after Clairemont Young Musicians concert

EJ's hard work has paid off. He was chosen to be 1st chair trumpet in the Clairemont Young Musicians orchestra, The County Honor Band, The Southern CA Honor Band and the All State Honor Band.
(I know it was cheating to squeeze in EJ but I couldn't help myself.)

These Js top my J list.  Thinking of them and all of my grand children makes me very JOYOUS.
What brings you joy?

Lura, I love all of your "J's"! They bring me joy too. Although I have never met your "California" family and grandchildren, I have met the others and I know they are really special people. I am not surprised that you have children and grandchildren that always put their best efforts forward and are so talented. Look who they have as grandparents! You and John are exemplary examples to everyone. I love you both so very much. I hope that you are soon feeling much better so that you can get back to your old self. Sending you lots of healing hugs, love and prayers today and always. xxoo

I can see why the letter J brings you so much joy. I hope you're feeling good these days. If you're husband is a good cook, that certainly helps the recovery.
