First Wednesday Grammy Awards

Hello everyone. ... even though I am posting this late and you won't read it until Thursday... I want to give out my Grammy Awards for this month.
I was honored to get this Blog Friends award pictured below given to me again.
...
It is always special when someone thinks of you as a friend even if they only know you through your blog. I have been blessed to meet several of my blog friends. The wonderful thing is that I have found they are even better in person than I realized they were through their blogs.
...
Blogging is great!!! I am so happy for all of my blog friends.

Some time back I got this Friends award from Marie of Oak Cottage. More recently I received it from Jen of Tatertots and Jello. Both of these ladies are wonderful, creative and talented. I am always in awe as I read their blog posts. I am honored that they consider me a friend. I feel the same way about them. I hope that you will visit their blogs because I know that you will love them too.
....
I would like to pass this on to ALL of you.

Yes.... to ALL of you regular readers!!!
...
Angie, Kris, Jan, Sheryl, Nancy, Sherrie, Holly, Tara, Patty, Marlene, Chelsea, Kelsi, Krystyn, Linda, Jean, Gloria, Patricia, Duckie , Dana, Tricia, Luis (Luigi-My son's sweet friend and my one and only male reader) and all of the rest of you that read my blog and leave me comments. I probably left out names that I should have added.... I'm sorry...chalk it up to "senioritis" and just go ahead and take the Friends award anyway.
...
If some of you already have this award...now you have it twice...enjoy.
Please post it on your sidebar and then leave me a comment letting me know who you are going to pass it on to.
...

I consider you my real friends. You and your blogs bring joy and love into my life. Thank you. If you don't know these bloggers hop on over to their blogs and say I sent you. They are all great people who will make you smile.

I would like to give my Sweet Pea Award to some of my little bloggers. They were wanting some of Grammy's goodies (awards). So here goes....
E.J. my 9 year old grandson.
You were kind enough to give his sister Claire 25 comments on her blog....but EJ only got 2.
If you have a minute give this boy some bloggy love. He would love it. He is my little baseball player and piano whiz. Thanks
Claire, my 7 year old grand-daughter
EJ and Claire can only blog when they come over to visit me. Even if we don't have time to do a post, Claire gets on my computer and adds something cute to her blog each time she visits. She hopes you think it is cute. Claire is also my little model and singing gal.
Johnny, my 12 year old grandson
Johnny is my great little gymnast. He just took first place in 4 events at the Utah state competition....Rings, Pommel Horse, Floor and Parallel Bars. He is a great kid with a sweet spirit and a strong testimony.
Lonica, my just turned 10 year old grand-daughter
Loni is my dancing girl. She thrills us all with her amazing abilities. She is really talented and sweet. She is my Honey Bunny because she was born at Easter time.
Amanda, my youngest blog reader that isn't related.
Amanda is one of Lonica's dance friends. She is so darling. She reads my blog much more often than my own grandchildren do and makes the sweetest comments.
..
All of these young people are my little sweet peas. They are getting this award with my love.

Well, this does it for my First Wednesday Awards.
You are all winners to me.
...
Next week I will post my Wednesday Wisdom blog.

Several of you ask for my Friendship Bread recipe...so I will post that next week.

Also, I haven't forgotten about getting something together for my 100th post give-away.

My 100 post is past now... but stay tuned... I am working on it and will post my give-away soon.

Have a great week.
Love, Grammy Lura

First Wednesday Grammy Awards

...

Here it is the first Wednesday of the month....uhh... actually of the new year... and time to pass on a couple of awards I got during the past month. So here I go. Please post them in your sidebar with a link to my blog and then send them on to your deserving blog friends.

I got both of these awards from Marie. She is a dear friend to me and many others. I sincerely hope that I will get to meet her in person one day. Until then she remains my blog buddie and soul sister. If you don't know and love her already I hope that you will visit her blog and meet her. You will be glad that you did.

I have many blog friends that I would like to pass this award on but in the interest of time I will give it to the following:.
1. Amanda
This is the little 10 year old friend of my grand-daughter. She leaves me comments all of the time and she is a real sweetheart.
2.Sherrie
Sherrie was a friend for years before she moved away to Utah. Now we keep in touch through blogging.
3. Holly
I can always count on Holly to leave me a comments and sometimes emails which lift my spirits and put a smile on my face.
4. Sheryl
Sheryl is my friend from church. She is a special person and a special friend.

This award is called the "Honest Scrap" and it's given to bloggers you feel are honest in their words and dealings with others. I take it as a compliment that Marie feels this way about me. I try hard to be honest in my dealings. Sometimes I slip up in little ways but I am getting better. This award comes with a meme. I have to tell you ten honest things about me. As Marie said on her blog "I'm not entirely sure I can come up with ten things about me that you don't already know, but I 'll give it a good attempt!" I feel the same way but here I go.

1. I spend too much time blogging when I should be on the computer doing genealogy.

2. I don't like to try things that I don't think I will be good at. I know this is a character flaw because how can I know if I might get good at something if I refuse to practice and try again??? However, I have felt this way since I was a child. When I wasn't good at most sports when I first tired them I wasn't persistent in trying to improve...I just gave up. If I can't do something well I don't want to do it at all. This is not a good attitude... I used to tell my students "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"... I just don't follow my own advice very well.

3. I am a perfectionist....which kind of goes along with my # 2. I used to really fret when I was in school if I didn't get an "A". I got one "A-" when I was working on my Master's program... and it drove me crazy. Now mind you I was teaching full time and taking care of my dying mother, 4 children and a husband ....with all that going on why in the world did I fret over getting an "A-"??? I have no idea but it still bugs me to this day...maybe it is because I think I deserved an "A" and not getting it meant I graduated with a little less than a 4.0???? I don't know??? I'm dumb I know!

4. I have a really low metabolism and have really struggled with my weight as long as I can remember. I stayed quite slim most of my younger years but I had to starve myself and exercise like crazy to do so. A couple of years ago my doctor had it checked for me. My BMR was 875 which means if I eat more than 875 calories in a day I gain weight and I need to eat less than 675 a day to loose weight. The doctor said it was the lowest BMR he had ever tested. That is why I always gain weight when I go on a normal weight loss diet which is usually 1200 calories. Exercise helps raise your metabolism so if I would really exercise hard every day and eat less I could get thinner but I haven't had the will power to do so. The bright side is that I will do well if there is ever a famine.

5. My dream would be to be a good singer and performer. I love almost all musicals. I would be in heaven if I could sing and dance and share beautiful music with the world. I used to have a rather decent alto voice but I was never a good solo singer....and now after years of teaching I have no singing voice left at all.

6. I would also love to play the piano but I am afraid to take lessons.... I might not want to put in the hours of practice it would take to do well.... I might never get it right.... I don't want to be a failure and waste my time and money....I guess this attitude stems back to my # 2.

7. I took Spanish classes up to level 4 while I was teaching because I had a lot of limited English students in class and I knew speaking Spanish would help me with them. I got an "A" in every class... on every test and assignment..... but can I speak Spanish???? NO....not with real Spanish people. I did great in class where everyone spoke slowly and carefully but in the real world I am totally lost and can only get about one word in ten. Yo espero hablar espanol bien pero no es posible para me! Que lastima! That is probably not written correctly since I've forgotten most of what I learned in those 4 classes...... again....Que Lastima!

8. I love to sew now and I am good at it. However, it was not always so. I hated sewing classes I had to take in junior high and high school. It seems that I spent most of my time ripping out mistakes. (#2 again) However when I got my student teaching assignment in college wouldn't you know that I had to teach a sewing class and an advance tailoring class. I cried.... I complained.... I asked for another assignment....all to no avail. If I was going to graduate that year I had to take that assignment.... so I did.... I learned a sewing technique one day before I had to teach it. In the long run it was such a blessing because I learned to love sewing and made most of my girls dresses and formals through the years. Now I sew for my grand-daughters.

9. I love to do crossword puzzles. I have a crossword book in the car so I can do a puzzle any time I have to wait on something....but I don't do hard ones like the ones in the Sunday LA Times. I do easy books (#2 again) and they make me feel smart. haha

10. I am not good at sudoku. My good friend Sil loves sudoku and does puzzle after puzzle in record time. She got me to try one....an easy one at that.... I thought I was doing well...it all fit together until I got to the very end and I was one number off....I couldn't figure it out.... I couldn't make it work... I gave up and have never done another sudoku puzzle. (#2 again)

OK now it is your turn. I am passing this Honest Scrap award on to the following honest people and bloggers....of course I think most all of you are honest so if you want to pick up this award go right ahead. I hope that the following people will post this award and the meme about themselves.

1. Jan
Read her last post and you will see why I picked her for this award.
2. Kris
I have know Kris for years. She does not have a dishonest bone in her body. I have never known her to say anything bad about anyone. She always sets a good example. If Kris says it then I can count on it being the truth.
3. Jamie
Read her last post on modesty and you will see why I gave her this award. It is a beautiful post that everyone should read... and the principles she states are true.

It is late.... and I am done... Yeah!!! Have a good week. I send my best wishes to you all.

PS... If you read my blog would you please sign in on my followers list on my top sidebar. Thanks.

Wednesday Awards

I have been honored to receive four awards from some sweet blog friends. I have not been prompt in passing them on. This is always hard for me because I enjoy so many of your blogs. However, even though I am a week late for my "First Wednesday Awards" deadline, I will pass these along today.
...
Blog Award Etiquette

Please put your award on your blog with a link to the person who gave it to you ( In this case that would be me .) Pass it on to one or more bloggers of your choice. Let the person who gave it to you know when you pass it on. Then post your award in your sidebar with a link to the giver.
I got both this Gracias por tocar me vida (Thanks for Touching my Life) award and the
One sweet Blog Award from Gloria at Canela's Kitchen Thanks Gloria.

Many of your blogs touch my life but today I would like to pass this first award on to these two ladies.

Meme at A Weeping Widow lost her husband a short while ago. She writes the most amazing and touching posts as she documents her journey as her life goes on without him. Her grief is evident as she talks about her beloved husband....but...her faith is strong and her outlook is positive. Read her blog and you will see why reading it touches my life.
...
Jan at The Fast Track is another blogger that touches my life. Jan calls her blog "The Fast Track" because she is dying. However her posts are not full of self pity or anger. They are full of happy times she spends with her little niece, Darien and other family members. She is documenting these experiences so Darien will have something to remember her by. It is very touching.

I would like to pass this One Sweet Blog Award to

Krystyn at Really are you Serious. She just had her second little girl. Her blog is full of sweet things about her two little ones.
...
Shannon at There's No Place Like Home also writes a sweet blog about her two little adopted boys.

I got this award from my dear blog buddy, Marie at A Year From Oak Cottage
Thanks Marie
...

Kris at Grandma's Journal

Sheryl at Heavenly Being Holmes

Tricia at Jacobson's Journaling and Jibberish

Joy at Books and Life

Kelsie at Moments that Matter

Holly at My Kids Say I'm Silly

...

6 values that are important to me:
patience
faithfulness
compassion
honesty
integrity
morality
And 6 things I do not support are:

Dana at Tutu Monkey

Linda at Behind My Red Door

Marlene at Stitching by the Lake

Patty at Grandma B

Miranda at A Duck in Her Pond

Marie I know you already have a "Kreativ Blogger" or I would have given it to you. You are one of the most creative people I know. Since you have that one I want to give you my "Blog Buddy" award. You are a great blog buddy and as you would say, "I love you to bits!" I always love getting your comments and I look forward to reading your wonderful posts each day.
...
I would like to give this last award to Gloria at Canela's Kitchen. She posts great recipes in both English and Spanish. She has good cooking going on.
...
If any of you readers would like one of these awards please help yourself. I would be glad for you to take one. I would name you all if time would permit.

...
Thanks again to those of you who gave me these awards. I am flattered and honored that you like my blog. You reading my blog and making comments lifts my spirits more than I can say. You are very special to me.

Wed. awards and wonderings

I know that it is not the first Wednesday of the month which is my award day, but I just received this "I love your blog" award from Krystyn. I've seen it on other blogs and thought it was so nice.
I am thrilled to receive it.
Thank you so much Krystyn.
Krystyn is young mother of a 2 year old, a chemistry teacher and is expecting # 2 in 35 days. She is having complications with her pregnancy because her platelet count has dropped really low. If the platelet level does not come up it will cause complications with her delivery.
She asked for us to pray for her.... so please keep her in your prayers. Drop by her blog, and give her some bloggy encouragement.
...
Now, the hard part is passing this award on to only 7 others because I really do love all of your blogs. Luckily for me, several of you that I read and love have already received it.... so no matter who gave it to you consider that it is from me too.
The rules for getting this award are:
1. post it in your sidebar with a link to the person who sent it to you
2. give it out to 7 people who's blog you love and link to them
3. Tell your awardees that you gave them the award
...
Drum roll please....
My picks for today are:...
...
Megan from Georgia. Megan amazes me. She is a young mother that is full of wisdom and good advice. I wish that I had had her as a resource when I was teaching.
...
Wendi from North Carolina. Wendi's blog is so much fun. She has a wonderful writing style and view on life. I know that I just gave her my "Blog smile" award but I do love her blog so I have to pass this one on to her too.
...
Julie from Connecticut . Julie is a young mom of 3 girls and a boy (just like my gang). Her blog is funny and touching at the same time. She happens to be married to my almost son, Adam (my son David's life long friend), but that does not bias me.
...
Jamie from Georgia . Jamie is full of faith. She loves the Lord and bears testimony of Him often in her posts. She is an inspiration to me and many others.
...
Holly from Texas . She is a sweet mom and a really fun gal. If you link up with her you can also meet her neat family that are regular blogger and fun to read too.Holly just found that her pregnancy was not to be and had a D & C. Send her some love.
...
Linda from New England . Take a look at Linda's beautifully decorated home. You will think that you have gone to "Better Homes and Gardens"
...
Angie from "old" England . Hop over the pond and say hi to this sweet lady... She is deaf and crippled but she has a great outlook on life. She is recovering from an accident where her motorized wheel chair ran over her and broke bones. Go and wish her well.
...
Chelsea from Ca . Chelsea loves animals and has a heart of gold. I love her and her blog.
...
Now that my difficult award giving task is completed..... (I just realized I gave out 8 instead of 7....oh well.... they all deserve it.)
Anyway.....I've been wondering....
...
1. How is Marie in England doing today? She works so hard and brings so much joy into my life.
..
2. How are things going for Gloria in Chile? Is her adopted daughter feeling better. I hope so.
..
3. How is Cinderelen doing in Greece? I haven't heard from her in a while. I hope all is going well as she starts going to college.
..
4. How is Kristen recovering in Australia? I am thankful that her tumor was benign. I hope that she is gaining her strength after her surgery. It is not easy being down when you have 4 little boys at home to take care of.
..
5. How is Jan from Colorado feeling? How much time has she got left? It touches my life to read how she is filling her last days caring for her little great niece that she adores instead of feeling bitter or sorry for herself.
..
6. Are Patty and my other Texas blog friends safe from the hurricane Ike headed their way?
..
7. How is Marlene in Arkansas doing? Is that menopause witch still giving her trouble? Is she going to have this weeks project "Finished by Friday"?
..
8. Where are you Grandma B? I miss you a lot! I hope you will be back soon.
And...
9. How did I EVER MANAGE before I met all of you blog friends? You have broadened my world and enriched my life. Thank you!
...
Now it is your turn..... Please leave a comment and tell me...
...
1. How did you get into blogging?
2. What does blogging mean to you?
Have a great day. Love and hugs, Grammy Staffy

1st Wednesday Awards

In July I got this lovely award given to me by my dear blog friend, Marie, from http://www.ayearatoakcottage.blogspot.com/
Marie is a chef who lives in England. She publishes wonderful, inspirational, provoking thoughts each day and gives us a great recipe as well. Go to her blog if you don't already. I tried to take this award and pass it on but my computer would not let me upload it. I tried over and over to no avail. Now I can upload it but I can't remember who I was going to pass it on to in July. (I guess I'm having a "senior moment"...I have those more and more lately...) So, I will have to give it out all over again.

This award is for those bloggers who are nice people, good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also, for those who have a positive influence on our blogging world. Once you’ve been awarded, please pass on to others who you feel are deserving of this award!”

I would like to pass this on to two of my daughters,

Erin of http://mcgibbon-family.blogspot.com/ and Lynell of http://jacobsondaly.blogspot.com/ . I know that I am biased towards them but they really do have sweet posts that uplift and inspire. Check out their blogs.

I would also like to give it to Kris at http://grandmajournal.blogspot.com/ . Kris is my sweet friend and her love of family, friends and her Heavenly Father shows in her posts.

This is my Blog Smile award.

This award goes to blogs that bring joy and put a smile on your face.

Tonight I would like to pass this one on to Wendi at http://www.becausewendisaidso.blogspot.com/ . Wendi is a fun writer with a great style. She has more awards than she knows what to do with.... and she deserves them all.

and

Marlene at http://stitchinbythelake.blogspot.com/ Marlene is an amazing quilt making grandmother. She inspires me to get busy in my sewing room and start being creative again. She also shares with us her fight with the menopause witch. She cracks me up.

Drop by both of these blogs. I guarantee you will enjoy them and leave with a smile on your face.

Congrats to my five award winners. Please post them on your sidebar and then pass them on. Please link my blog address to my smile award and let me know who it is passed on to. I would like to follow it around the blog world.

I get so much joy from reading all of your blogs. You all are first rate to me. I will be passing out more awards next month on the first Wednesday. Thanks to all of you.

Award Wednesday and Tag Time

It is Wednesday night. John and I just got home from being in San Diego since Monday. We had a wonderful time there celebrating our 43rd anniversary. I will tell you all about it soon ...well not all about it.... hee hee..... but about most of it anyway when I have time to sort through all my pictures.

However, I told you I would do my awards on Wednesday and catch up on my tags. I decided to start with the newest tag first and work my way back through the others... so here I go.....

Angie from Can You All Hear Me at the Back tagged me last week with a meme. Angie says on her blog that she is "disabled, deaf and daft" but I think she is amazing. She makes beautiful sugar flowers, loves to find bargain treasures and has a four legged child named Sally who doesn't know she is a dog. Check out Angie's blog when you get a chance.
...
...

To do Angie's meme tag I am suppose to tell you 6 things about me. I am having a hard time thinking of 6 interesting things but I will try.
...
1. I was very shy and hated school when I started in first grade. (They did not have free kindergarten in public schools when I started school) I would get so upset that I would cry and throw up everyday in class. (Don't you know my teachers loved me!) I would stand up on the toilets in the school bathroom so the teachers wouldn't see my feet and make me go out and play at recess. I was a real mess. I bet that those sweet teachers who had to put up with me would be surprised to know that I went on to get a Master's degree and teach for 24 years. I wish I could tell them that their efforts were not wasted on me.
...
2. I got over being shy and became quite a little actress when I was young. We were very poor but my mom managed to find a way to put me in acting lessons and community theater.(I think that she did this at first to help me get over being so shy.... it worked.) I loved being in plays and performing in front of audiences. Mom drove me to L.A. to audition to be on the TV show Rocket to Stardom. I made it on the show and got enough call in audience votes to win first place and return the following week. I won a nice trophy, some gifts and got an agent but we didn't have the money to go any further than that. I did continue to act in high school and during my first 2 years of college and loved it.
...
3. I didn't always intend to be a Family and Consumer Science (Home Economics) teacher. After reading my #2 you may not be surprised to learn that I originally wanted to have a career centered around acting. I realized the chances of me making it in Hollywood were slim. I thought teaching speech and drama classes would be a good choice for me. However, after years of being in production after production I saw how hard and late drama teachers had to work. Since being a wife and mother was my greatest desire, I decided I needed a career that would not demand so many nights away from home so I changed my major my third year of college.
...
4. When I stopped putting so much time and energy into acting, I realized that I really liked all the science classes (except organic chemistry.... sorry Krystyn) I loved microbiology and bacteriology and did very well in them. That is when I thought I would go into medical field ... but then again, I realized that I didn't have the finances to become a doctor (I was putting myself through college and only had a small scholarship) and if I was a nurse I'd have to work nights and weekends which would take me away from my future family. I found out that I could use all the science classes I'd taken in a home ec. major. I thought taking classes in all the different areas of home ec. would also make me a better wife and mother so that is what I did.
...
5. I didn't always love sewing like I do now. In fact I hated the sewing classes I had to take in high school. It took me forever to make an ugly apron. I spent more time picking out mistakes that I did sewing. However, wouldn't you know my student teaching assignment was teaching child development, sewing and tailoring classes. I was so upset but I had to buckle down and not only learn how to sew but how to teach it as well. I would learn a skill one day and teach it the next. It was a nightmare but by the end I had learned to sew well and I loved it. I cried and cried over that assignment at the time but it turned out to be a real blessing for me. I would have missed the years of pleasure I've had making beautiful dresses for my girls and granddaughters if I had not been forced to learn the skills and teach those classes.
.. .
6. I didn't date in high school.... not even once. I suppose that I was attractive enough but the boys were all just my friends. I feared that I was doomed to be an old maid. However, I dated a lot and had three fine young men who wanted to marry me in college. I loved different things about each of them but after much prayer I knew my John was the right choice. I was 20 when I married him 43 years ago today and I know that I made the right decision.
...
That is probably 6 things more than you really wanted to know but at least I've completed my meme tag. I hope that I didn't bore you too much. Now it is your turn. These are the rules Angie gave me and I must pass them on to you.

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on the blog
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
..
Now it is my turn to play. I've tagged you six and you're it

Grammy's Award TimeSince we just had our Country's Birthday celebration last week on the 4th of July it would be appropriate to give out my Patriotic Award this week. I've picked a few blogs that show patriotic spirit, patriotic effort or are just patriotic cute. Be sure to check out their July 4th posts.
And the winners are.......drum roll please......

Kristen of Loving Our Simple Life is my first winner. I love the darling pictures of Kristen's children at their 4th of July parade. You will love them too. Go and take a look. She could have received my Blog Buddies award because she faithfully comments and supports each of my posts or my Sweet Pea award for posting pictures of her cute kids but since I'm on a patriotic theme tonight she gets this one.

...

I choose Patty from Patty's Page because she did two July 4th posts. In one she showed us how to make darling cupcake pops for the holiday or any special occasion. In the other post she bore testimony of her love of this country. She is the mother of Holly who is another one of my blog friends.

Megan of Life Every Day is a fantastic little mom. She has an amazing blog. I choose her for this award because I loved the way she tied in her love of this country to the scriptures on her Freedom post. However, she really deserves my good teaching award also. She teaches us so many things from money management to glass etching. Be sure to check out her blog.

...
I choose Lynell of An Ordinary Miracle because anyone who teaches 80 girls and a few boys a dance and marches with them in a parade on a hot 4th of July morning deserves a lot more than an award (even if she is my daughter).... but ....this is all she gets..... except for my love of course.... and I enjoyed watching the video she posted of my Johnny walking down the street on his hands and Lonica dancing along with the parade

Now you can all honestly say that you've won a.... Grammy Award..... However this great honor comes with responsibilities. There are Blog Award Rules. I know because Krystyn of Really are you Serious http://reallyareyouserious.blogspot.com/ taught them to me.

1. Choose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award (or any of the other awards listed on my side bar) for their creativity, design, interesting material, and that also contribute to the blogging community.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog.

3. Each award winner has to show the award you won in a post and put the name of and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award. Then post it permanently on your side bar. (The only reasons for not doing this is if you claim you fall under one of the exemptions I listed at the bottom of my first awards ceremony posted on July 2nd.)

4. Show these rules.

Wow.... it took me way too long to write this post. It is after midnight now. If you find lots of errors ignore them. Have a great day. Love, Grammy

I've been loved

I've been put on a love list, several tagged lists, 8 about 8 lists, my favorites list, 10 things list and been given the two beautiful awards pictured below. Krystyn also educated me on blog award rules....did you know that there are blog award rules???..... If you don't already know them these are the rules Krystyn listed for us to follow:
Blog Award Rules
...
1. Chose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name of and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.
4. The award winner and one who has given the prize has to show the link of Arte Y Pico blog so everyone will know the origin of this award (or the " You rock" link or my link if you are giving out one of my awards)
5. Show these rules.

Krystyn from "Really are you Serious" gave me this lovely Arte Y Pico award. Krystyn is really quite amazing. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia . She is a high school chemistry teacher with a darling little 1 1/2 year old daughter and one on the way. Besides teaching school and being a wife and mommy she designs pretty blog pages through her Kizzy Designs business. Be sure to check out her blog.

Today I would like to pass this award on to CHRISTINE from "Olive Lucy". Christine and her husband Watson live in Staten Island, New York. Last August their beautiful little Olive Lucy was stillborn. My heart goes out to her since my Lyle was stillborn years ago. She is working to get legislation passed that stillborn babies in New York can be recognized as a"person" and get a birth certificate in that state. Good Luck Christine. Christine is now expecting another baby. While this child can not take Olive Lucy's place I know that Christine will be comforted when her arms are no longer empty. Drop by her blog and wish her well.

Wendi from "Because Wendi said so" gave me this "You Rock"award. Wendi is really the one who rocks. She lives in North Carolina. She is the mother of three cute kids, one of whom is named "Claire Bear" like my Claire. Wendi is a great writer. She reminds me of Irma Bombeck. She is down to earth and funny. I guarantee her posts will put a smile on your face.

Today I would like to pass on this award to CINDERELEN who is an 18 year old little gal from Greece. She rocks! She is good and kind and going through all the difficult stuff that teenagers face today. She has a good heart. I wish that she had been one of my students. Drop by and tell her hello.
...

...
When Wendi gave me my award she said that she had been an "award hoarder". She said that she'd been guilty of getting awards but not sharing them.
...
Well so have I.... but I am repenting!
...
From now on..... well that is my intention anyway.... I will have:

"AWARD WEDNESDAY"

I will give out much coveted I'm sure(hee hee) "Blog Awards" as well as try to get to the various lists I've been asked to respond to. So be sure to check in with me on Wednesdays. You may be my award pick of the day to receive one of the above awards or one of my own award creations which are listed on my side bar. Today I am giving out the following:

This is my Good "Teachin" Award. I give it to bloggers who teach me or others something useful. Today I am giving this award to a new blog friend named Jenn.

Jenn and her husband Jake do amazing things like being in a triathlon. I choose her today because she taught me how to make great fireworks designs. Take a look.

This is my patriotic award given to those who show love of their country on their blogs through pictures, poems, stories etc.

My first first patriotic award winner is:

Mandy and Ken are the parents of 5 good kids. I gave her this award today because I love the nice patriotic pictures she has just posted. I think no matter what country you live in you need to be patriotic. Thanks Mandy.

My Blog Angel Award is for those posts that inspire me to be a better person either through their inspirational or spiritual posts or through their humanitarian service.

Today this award goes to JAMIE of "Life and Love in Rose Cottage". I talked about Jamie on my post about my stillborn baby, Lyle. Jamie belongs to the NILMDTS organization that takes pictures of dying or dead babies for the family to keep. What a difficult job that would be. How I wish someone like her had been there when we lost our baby.

My Blog Buddies Award is for my bloggy buds that are always there for me. They leave me comments regularly and are friends in every aspect of the word....except that I've never had the pleasure of actually meeting them. If I do ever get to meet them in real life, I know that we will be great friends.

Today I'm giving this award to HOLLY from "My Kids Say I'm Silly".
...
...
Holly lives in Texas with her husband Joey. She has 3 darling little girls. Holly posts are full of cute family pictures and demonstrate family values. She has adopted me as a bloggy grammy even though her kids have great grandparents of their own. She has introduced several of her family members to my blog. I love hearing from them. I can always count on Holly to make a sweet comment. If it works out I am hoping to meet her (for real) soon.

My GOOD "COOKIN" AWARD is for my blog friends that post great recipes... those mouth watering kind that I can't wait to try out.

...

Today I am giving this award to MARIE from "A Year from Oak Cottage" Marie is a chef in England. She is amazing. She actually deserves all of my awards. She posts wonderful recipes complete with pictures everyday....but the best part is she also feeds my soul with inspirational stories. I love Marie and I know you will too. My daughter Lynell told me about Marie about a month before I actually went to visit her in England. (I had blog passport problems..hee hee) I should have listened to Lynell sooner. Once I visited her blog I've gone back everyday for my dose of "Marie" She is wonderful and I know you will love her too.
